Realms of Myst

Welcome to Realms of Myst (RoM) Multi User Dungeon (MUD).
Time waits for no man. (Nor woman, nor Elf.) The MUD will not wait indefinitely for you.
If you don't type something in a certain amount of time you will get disconnected; and if you get disconnected before level 2 your character goes poof. Make it to at least level 2 and type "save" before quitting. The "quit" command exits the game. There are lots of "help" commands.

There are 50 player levels, 49 "leveling" and the 50'th "Avatar" level. You must kill non-player characters, "mobs", to gain experience points and increase your level.

Upon entering the game, you will appear either in the pre-auth area or the Academy. If it's the pre-auth then you start at level 1 and can't save your character until you complete and leave the pre-auth area and enter the regular game at the Academy, gaining level 2. Once in the Academy there is a secret way to gain level 3 or you gain it through experience. Remember to "save" your character before you "quit". After level 3 you level to 49 with experience points or "xp". You will need to consume things (food and water or blood) to survive. Finally you can achieve level 50 and become an Avatar. Then you no longer need sustenance to survive and do not loose xp when you die. After the Avatar level, there may be "Hero" classes available to you.

I want RoM to be responsive to the needs and desires of players, allowing them have their characters changed and things that they want implemented. I also want it to be free from bad attitudes and excessive multi-playing. The player focus as I see it should be on adventure more so than computer programming. I hope you will find many areas to be detailed and interesting. If some stock areas are less detailed, I can use the help of builder Immortals to fancy them up. Player input is always welcome.

This MUD runs on the "Smaug" codebase, similar to Merc and Diku MUD. (Not the "ROM" codebase: here RoM stands for the name Realms of Myst.) The commands will be familiar to players of MUD games. If you're not familiar with MUD, it should be easy to learn. RoM has a variety of different races and classes that you can choose for your character, and many areas to explore, both stock and original. You can use quest points or "glory" to modify your character and personalize your equipment in the game, on a reasonable, attainable scale. Points may be given for exploration as well as challenges. Roleplay will be encouraged. A player-vs-player system is installed that is optional: you choose to engage in "pkill" gaming or Not.
